Join the Kendo Shiai Event – 3.5.2025 in Helsinki!

Dear Kendo enthusiasts,

We are excited to invite you to the upcoming Kendo Shiai Event on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at UniSport Porthania, Helsinki! This event is open to all grades from 6. Kyu upwards and is part of the Finnish Kendo League – a friendly yet competitive championship series offering real shiai and shinpan experience throughout the year.

Event Details:

When: Saturday 3.5.2025, 09:15–15:00

Where: UniSport Gym, Porthania K1, Yliopistonkatu 3, Helsinki

Registration: via Suomisport, open until Friday 2.5.2025 at 15:00

Fee: €20 (commitment fee)

What to expect:

Matches organized using the Swiss system – everyone gets the same number of fights

Matchups based on initial ranking (your grade + performance history)

Rankings updated after each event

Valuable experience in both shiai and shinpan

Junior participants (13–18 yrs) may be paired with adults – safety is prioritized, but all compete at their own/guardian's responsibility

After the Shiai Event:
There will be a Kyu Graduation (6–1.kyu) from 15:30–16:30. Register separately for the grading (Suomisport link coming soon). You may participate in both events.
